Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is an acute and life-threatening condition that requires emergency plasma exchange within 4-8 hours of referral to a specialist centre. University Hospital Southampton is one of 9 specialist regional centres and 11 participating hospitals commissioned by the NHS to provide specialist treatment for TTP. The UHS service went live on November 1st 2022 and accepts emergency transfers from hospitals within the Wessex region via the haemostasis consultant on call.
